일본 소설 은하영웅전설을 원작으로 BOTHTEC에서 제작한 은하영웅전설 시리즈의 4번째 게임. 일본에서는 4를 발매한 이후 확장팩이라 할 수 있는 4EX가 발매됐지만, 한국에는 4EX 버전을 한글화하여 정발했기 때문에 보통 은하영웅전설 4라고 하면 4EX를 말한다.
